SDMA - Moving Forward
Letter from Superintendent Zydowsky
School Options - Open Enrollment Deadlines
From now until April 30, families can apply for their children to attend a different school district next year. (This also can include virtual public school from around the state.)
The deadline to apply for FREE private school through the Wisconsin Choice Program is April 18! If you think you make too much money to be eligible, you might be pleasantly surprised.
NOW is the time to decide where your children will attend school in the fall. Lots more information and options are available at Dunn County Education Alternatives. dunncoeducationalternatives.org.

Poll workers - Can you point to a voting machine, smile and hand someone a sticker? Can you take a piece of paper with a number on it and jab it onto a pointy spindle without hurting yourself? Not everything poll workers do is hard. If we want Republican eyes watching our polling places in this year's elections, we need more volunteers now. Contact Pat at [email protected] or 715-265-4146 before Wednesday, March 6.
"Butts in Seats" - Sorry if that sounds crude. The battle to hold back the flow of refugee resettlement in Western Wisconsin is requiring large numbers of people to just show up at specific governmental meetings and say nothing. No experience or deep background knowledge necessary. If we can count you in, please contact Joyce at [email protected] for more info.
SOON!

Election Results
After a months-long, hard-fought battle, the SDMA referendum failed to pass Tuesday. School board member Abe Smith made a valiant effort to bring out the "yes" vote. "No" voters from both sides of the political aisle, though, called attention to financial concerns they had with the district. Then the community "buzz" turned toward a mass mailing paid for by Bob Cook, which highlighted those financial concerns.
Turnout was surprisingly strong throughout the school district and the unofficial results were 41% FOR the referendum and 59% AGAINST. It will be interesting to see how the school district chooses to move forward at this point, as they predicted cuts if the measure did not pass.

Detransitioner Chloe Cole is coming to Menomonie!
This is big news from the UW-Stout Young Americans for Freedom (YAF!) You may remember that Dunn County Education Alternatives showed a video from Chloe as part of their presentation on "gender" in the local schools back in 2023.

Chippewa Falls County Board meeting - Some of us will be driving to a Chippewa Falls County Board meeting Tuesday night to show our support for a resolution to halt refugee resettlement in the Chippewa Valley until federal law is being followed and communities have a chance to assess their realistic ability to help these newcomers. If that is the sort of thing you like to do, email Joyce at the address below. We would love to have you on our team.
The Chippewa Valley made FOX national news this week!
This is regarding our local battle to rein in the illegal overreach of a newly-opened refugee resettlement office in Eau Claire with a 100 mile resettlement radius. The video at the top of the FOX news story is strangely unrelated but the article is quite good.
I wrote an overview article about this issue on my Menomonie Matters blog late last year if you need to get caught up to speed.
